EPISODE 5

The confusion of Belle continues.

Vincent came back and first met with Sam and asked Sam and I think Sam told him everything except for the one night stand/romance and Vincent was ok with it, after Sam was his bestest of bestest best friend. No need not to believe Sam. And good of Sam to back away like a gentleman should. BUT Belle refused to back away. I may make her sound like a villain, she wasn't one. In fact she was nice, polite, good and she believed so much in fate that I think she screwed up her own love life. Luckily no more dropping of bracelets. Getting tired of that same old scene. Anyway, Belle. What more can I say? First 15 minutes, very sure, next 15 minutes, still wondering, when she saw Zoe with that triangel (I learn something new. What is a triangel?) that Sam gave Zoe but actually bought for Belle his email friend, Belle knew Sam was the Mr Y and suddenly she remembered those moments they passed each other whilst talking on the phone to each other but never met. Now she was truly deeply very confused and so the last 15 minutes ended with Belle going back to square one. It is obvious so much doubt in her, she didn't really love Vincent, then. Poor Sam, avoiding her like a plague.

Meanwhile Zoe became good friends with Isaac and was still Sam's no. 1 fan whenever Sam appeared. I like Zoe. I find her perky. Some may say TOO PERKY but she is supposed to be a young girl. How young I do not know. I am guessing between 18 to 20?

As for Isaac, like Sam I really feel like kicking him. He was still going on and on about being the uncle, therefore Sam should respect him. Isaac wanted to get back at Sam and so he joined the Solar Airlines Polit Trainee Programme headed by Sam and fellow pilot (what's the name of that actor who is a host first, actor second? who in real life really knows how to fly a plane?). First day itself during the welcoming session with Donald, Chris, Zita (Michelle Ye), Paul (Jerry Lam) and Roy I think (dunno who's the actor) and yes, Mr Uncle Isaac himself and Isaac took offence with Sam saying those not serious about the programme please leave (aimed at Isaac) and Isaac said driving a bus was far more difficult than flying a plane. Sam was clearly annoyed and I too. I mean Isaac can't even see past his own big head, how can he be entrusted with a whole plane full of passengers? Anyway Donald followed Chris who really wanted to become a pilot and when Donald saw Zita, he stayed on. Zita wanted to be the first trainee I guess.

There was an interview and Zita answered with confidence, Paul with desperation (he failed many times already), Roy with some funny answers (whole family is involved with public transport, land, sea, railway and so he wanted to be the one in the air), Donald with a bit of arrogance and Isaac like his usual self. He is really very annoying. And guess what? Predictably, all went through. The one who wasn't chosen was those who refused to co-operate during the teamwork exercise. They all had to play computer flight simulation and answer some I think 200 test questions. At the end of this episode Sammul said anyone interested must fulfill some requirements first and believe me, very easy to fulfill as long as you have the passion and the drive. I think the interview and the test played a big part.

Anyway, all became good friends and Donald became the protector of Zita, always by her side though she hardly noticed him. I quite like Chris, he seemed to be the reasonable and friendly one.

Poor Zoe. She was already having a very bad relationship with Ruby her boss and worse was when she lost a bratty kid whose mom pushed him to Zoe whilst she went to toilet, kid wanted ice cream, Zoe took him to buy ice-cream, kid got lost, Zoe was frantic and Isaac helped find kid and kid was playing, took kid back to mom and I doubt the mom said thank you. Ungrateful woman. Ruby publicly scolded poor Zoe whose only mistake was to listen to that bratty kid when he said he wanted ice-cream. Fearing she might be fired, Paul her cousin took her to see Ruby at Ruby's house and begged for a second chance. Of course Ruby didn't have the authority to fire her BUT she gave Zoe a warning letter after Belle asked Ruby whether she was firing Zoe. Zoe and Belle became friends and that whole Triangel thing came after this.

I wonder, I really wonder, is there a romance between Zoe and Isaac??

Plot wise, I find today's episode very entertaining, especially the bits about Sam, Zoe, Paul and gang. I am losing my patience with Isaac and I hope he will be exposed as the little brother soon. His behaviour was really obnoxious to the core, which made him one of the more interesting charater. Vincent was back to his manic laughter again. And I really liked the restaurant Sam and Vincent always had lunch in, very nice view.

So now I know what pilots do when they are not flying. They teach, they chat, they do paper work.

I am still curious as to who Zoe is working for, so correct me if I am wrong.

Belle - she is the ground crew of the Solar Airlines (her scarf is red)

Margaret Chung (don't know her character) - she is the air stewardess of Solar Airlines (her scarf is black)

Zita's mom - she is the chief air stewardess I think. A bit old to be still flying but maybe different policy for different airlines.

Sam/Vincent - pilot (I think he got 4 bars on his shoulder or is it 3?)

Paul - plane mechanic?

Zoe/Ruby - airport's personnel? I don't think they work for Solar Airlines

Anyway I really look forward to Zoe-Sam scenes. I do like the fact she practically runs to Sam whenever Sam appears and Sam takes it as a little girl idolising him. I don't think he sees Zoe as a woman yet.

Performance wise, I really like the more subdued Michelle Ye. I hope she won't go opera in this series.

Sammul Chan is ok, nothing much to do whilst Bosco is disappointingly the follower in here. Acting a bit shaky as well.

That guy who plays Roy, don't know him. Average.

Jerry Lam is a better host than he is an actor.

Ron is average as well, I would say above average. I hate his Isaac but I like his performance thus far.

Myolie Wu impresses me with her multi layered emotions and did you notice her voice? Very girlish, very young, compare that with the more mature character in Survivors' Law. This girl is getting better everyday. I must give her due recognition; she is one very talented actress and I do think she is pretty. And she was Miss HK! I will have to reassess how I view Miss HKs from now on, there are some who are talented. Like Marianne Chen of course.

Francis Ng still rules by the way whilst today Joe Ma again talked gibberish. Performance wise, Joe was ok. I am waiting for him to die, that would be his best performance I guess.

Overall, a very enjoyable episode.

Initially, Chris seem to me like one of those leachers who latch on to a rich kid to get benefits from him. But seeing him more, I changed my mind about him. He gives in a lot to Donald, but he truly is more Donald's best friend than follower. They practically grew up together because Chris's father is Donald's father's chauffeur. Chris has ambition and has plan to be independant and make a career by himself instead of relying on Donald's father (e.g, working in Donald's father's company).

Not only is Chris reasonable and friendly, he is also very intelligent and charismatic. I person who is very sure of his own ability but didn't let that knowledge get into his head and become big-headed. That's why I was so disappointed with the underuntilisation of Chris. I personally felt that Chris is an interesting character (believe me, it's not only because he is played by Bosco. I really do like Chris because of the character's personality) with an interesting background. He came from a very lowly family. Father is a chauffeur while mother is a cleaning lady at Solar Airport. But he never look down on them. His main aim for getting a good career is to give a better life to his parents. This character's profile has all the making of a main character but is relegated to glorified ke-le-fe role. :(

Btw, Isaac didn't join the trainee program because he wanted to get back at Sam. He really do want to be a pilot i.e. he has real interest in it. Anyway, Sam also has fault in this situation. He truly is very bias against Isaac. The other examiners all approved of Isaac except Sam. He totally refuse to see the positive side of Isaac. Chris, Paul, Donald and Zita all have their weaknesses, but Sam still give them a chance. But he totally refuse to consider Isaac at all Instead he try all ways persuad to Isaac to give up and when Isaac refuse to give up he try all his might to not let Isaac join the training eventhough Isaac pass all the tests. I felt that if he has been lest dissaproving of Isaac, Isaac would not be so rebelious. But I have to admit that Sam did try to be fair to Isaac after he let Isaac become trainee pilot. But because he still has his biases against Isaac, he tend to think the worst of his little brother. The same can also be said of Isaac. Isaac is forever thinking that Sam is against him eventhough Sam actually has his best interest at heart (he is bias be he still want the best for Isaac).

Just want to know 1 thing. Do u still read comment on previous episodes review after posting your latest one. I have already said Roy is played by Kenneth Ma in the response from your episode 3 review, but u still do not know who played Roy in this episode. If u r not going to read comment to older episodic review after u post the lastest one, I will keep in mind not to waste my time commenting on older episodic review. Anyway I have answered your question on Kenneth Ma in the comment section on the episode 4 review page.

Wahhh Kidd you very scary. I know I know and I do read but I depend on emails to know if someone posted comments and usually I read my emails AFTER I post my thoughts. Sometimes I skip reading emails for 2 days and thus duplicate.

I do know now he is Kenneth Ma. I should have because I have his name in the cast list.

Why scary leh? I just want to confirm whether u read the comments or not mah. If I know that u don't read, then I know not to comment on older episode reviews liao loh. U see how long my comment usually is. So, it will be just a waste of time if post in in a place u don't read anymore. That's all.
