EPISODE 20

There is something very weird with this episode and I shall explain why. First the plot.

Sam successfully and very cooly landed the troubled plane, problem is I do not know what is wrong with that plane. Never explained. During the press conference, Sam was very worried about Isaac's fate since he committed the big no no by opening the cockpit door! But the manager (I do not know the actor's name, anyone knows do please tell me) told Sam to hold on about that and he revealed to the press that Sam is the first Chinese captain in Solar Airlines' history. Sam was surprised but happy. Isaac meanwhile was proud of his brother but after what happened on the plane, he began to question himself, losing confidence as he realised he was much too immature, was not good with urgent and dangerous situations. He confided that to Sam and said "I don't think I have what it takes, you were right" but Sam replied "I was one of those who thought you have got what it takes!". But Isaac was put through some counselling sessions and suspended for awhile but no big punishment. Isaac meanwhile had already decided what he must do.

Meanwhile during the celebrations to celebrate Sam's success with everybody there, Vincent was smiling but not too happy, as Sam himself noticed Vincent was drinking non stop. When the cake was brought out, Vincent tried to walk away but Sam pulled him back to celebrate this success together but Vincent smilingly retorted..."You asked me if I am happy...Sammmm, I am not happy! I should be the first Chinese Captain, I should be the one.." and he pushed the whole darn cake to the floor and promptly fainted in a drunken stupor. Least to say everybody was shocked with Vincent's behaviour but Isaac brought another cake and Sam felt pretty bad whilst Belle was feeling sorry as well.

Back home, Vincent confided in Belle that he had always been second to Sam in everything, so he wanted to be the first in this whole captain thing but he smiled and trimphantly and not really drunkenly declared ..."But I got one thing that Sam hasn't got; I got myself a good wife, and I am contented". Well liar liar pants on fire!

Next day Vincent strutted into the office and greeted Sam who was just asked to have a lunch date with Coco. Vincent acted as if nothing happened and Sam didn't pursue the issue any further. But Sam asked Vincent to please help him with Coco and Vincent said "15 minutes...talk to her about planes for 15 minutes" and as Belle and Vincent spied on them, Sam actually spent the next 15 minutes talking about nothing but planes. Coco was so bored she quickly left and the romance died a natural death.

And then Sam bumped into Zoe and found out he and Zoe shared a similar passion; Zoe loved to talk about planes because of her cousin Paul and Sam saw Zoe in a new light as Zoe happily rushed to get to work.

And then potential problem looms; Belle, Coco and Sam were scheduled to fly together to of all places, Rome again and Vincent was worried, a bit jealous and a bit unhappy but in the end realised he has got to trust his own wife. Problem is when wife and Sam stood at the fountain place where they met, they both thought about the same thing; the romance, the kiss, everything.

Poor Vincent...maybe he was wrong; he lost everything when it comes to Sam! Or maybe not....

Now what is wrong with today's episode? Purely some very inadequate acting on the part of Joe Ma and more to the inadequate writing towards the character Vincent.

You see when previously Vincent scolded Sam to stop interfering in his family's life, and when he realised what a jerk he was, he actually went to Sam and apologised. That to me was a small matter but he apologised as a gentleman should.

So which is worse; your best friend telling you to stop interfering with his family's life and then apologising about it OR throwing the cake to celebrate your success, said some hurtful words and then pretending nothing had happened? How can this friendship go any further without apologies and honesty? I was very excited to see an emotional Vincent throwing the cake showing his true colours; he was upset, so it was understandable for Sam to forgive him and forget about that incident. But the next scene was a very sober Vincent telling Belle how he felt, and he didn't feel a tiny bit of remorse for the way he acted, although in a drunken manner or the day after when he met Sam at the office, he didn't even say "Buddy, sorry for what happened. I am glad you got the job, congrats". Nope, not one word and that made me feel Vincent is such a first class jerk. But Vincent isn't like that, it isn't consistent and I blame that on Joe Ma's scene per scene acting ( he should be in a better position to try to reflect a bit of remorse but none whatsoever) and more to the writer who maybe forgot that even best of friends should observe a set of rules of common courtesy.

Other than that, nothing much. Francis Ng rules. That's about it.
