EPISODE 27

Today's episode is an example why this series should end earlier than later because it is running out of story to tell.

First quarter we have the Belle-Vincent story. Belle wasn't pregnant, and she was of course disappointed though yesterday she was anxious about being pregnant. Vincent of course thought they can always try again and again and again.

Next we have a 5 minutes scene of Chris and Coco dating, ALL OF A SUDDEN. Nevermind, they aren't that important anyway.

Then we have a major story about Roy. I mean Chris suffered some family crisis, Isaac some love crisis, Zita some emotional crisis and Donald some major love crisis as well, so it was only fitting that Roy had a story and a chance to tell it. I'd rather his story was skipped or told properly because his problem was solved like in 30 minutes, and Donald got blamed for being such a bad friend.

You see, Roy suffered from anxiety attack because his parents had high hopes for him. So he crashed his plane in a simulation but Taylor said he could take the exam again. But Roy was nervous as his parents proclaimed they will all fly with him one day. So the gang except for Zita thought of accompanying him on some flying lessons and Donald was no show, though I didn't quite understand why can't they go on without Donald. Chris was not happy, Roy thought Donald abandoned him and again Isaac made some terrible assumptions about Donald. Truth was Donald wanted to go but he got an emergency call for goddess Zita whose mother had some major health problems and Donald rushed to help Zita, of course she was more important and I do agree with Donald's actions. Isaac who didn't know anything refused to listen to Donald's explanation so Zita went to Isaac and explained in what I thought was appropriated frustrated manner. Isaac then realised what a jerk he was and went to apologise to Donald who in turn became friends with Isaac again.

Meanwhile, Chris thought Roy should just tell his mom that he was afraid and all and they did tell the mom and his mom said "Roy, even if you don't get through, it's ok" and guess what? He passed.

All these in less than 30 minutes. It felt like an episode of Friends and I disliked the entire Roy, Donald, Isaac, Chris story today which was nothing but to fill in time. If the story had been told properly, and acted well by especially Kenneth Ma, perhaps this sub plot may be an interesting story. Bad acting aside, the attempt at some friendship sentimental scene was at best corny.

Then back to another sub plot, with Taylor and Zita's mom. Zita's mom confessed her love to Taylor but Taylor in a way kinda said she shouldn't take him as a floating device so they remained as friends as Taylor wasn't sure Zita's mom was genuine when she said what she said or she was just desperate.

Meanwhile another sub plot involving Ruby and Paul trying to get some private moment together but can't because nobody except Zoe knew they were an item so they had to sneak around. Funny of course but pretty empty storyline.

Then back to Zoe and Sam. I am getting bored with Sam the older guy not comfortable with Zoe the younger girl and everybody calling Sam uncle or Sam as Isaac's father. I mean he is not that old! Maybe Zoe's uncle but Isaac's father??

One outing Sam planned to go to the water themepark with Zoe but he was dressed in suit and all, very formal. Funny because when he was in Rome I thought his casual dress looked pretty smart but now all of a sudden he is always in suit. Where is his sweater??

Isaac of course told Sam to please dress appropriately and don't upset Zoe. So when he turned up to greet Vincent, Belle and a very professional and office like looking Zoe (who was dressed to conservatively to please Sam), Sam turned up in torn jeans and pink t-shirt, I believe Isaac's clothes! Zoe was upset but didn't show much. Everybody else was laughing. Then Zoe saw how Vincent and Belle each had an ice cream trying new stuff, Zoe wanted it and Sam quickly bought ONE ice cream and Zoe was even more upset as she viewed that as Sam trying very hard to please her when she didn't want that. Sam was clueless but he tried and Zoe appreciated that.

Then Zoe thought she wanted to bring their relationship closer so she suggested a holiday overseas. Everybody was excited as they thought this was like honeymoon and all and Zoe smiled but Sam was not happy. He refused to go with all types of excuses and later he confided in Isaac he wasn't ready for such a hugh big leap in their relationship. Poor Zoe, still trying to figure out how to close their generation gap and make them closer.

This made me remember last episode when Sam asked Zoe "What do you like?" and Zoe immediately answered "You!".

and why can't they understand that now??

But it was funny to see Zoe dressing so mature and Sam so teenage like tonight when I thought Sam should dress like he always did or like Vincent who wore a very colourful and smart looking sweater or whatever you call that tonight.

Then back to Belle who was on her way to somewhere when she saw an aftermath of an accident involving a car and a streelight I think. She immediately went to help and the bleeding woman said please please see if my baby is ok and Belle took the baby and said the baby was ok.

Immediately next scene we see Belle being bandaged on her arm. I didn't recall any scene where Belle was cut or bruised or hurt but I assume she sustained that injury when helping the bleeding woman.

Next thing we know a nurse I think quickly asked Belle to see a very pale faced doctor who told Belle when Belle asked am I ok and he said "I am afraid not..the woman you helped had AIDS" and then end credits.

That final scene reminded me of some sappy period drama Taiwanese series minus the tears. What's next? Vincent has cancer? Oh no wait! Vincent will die!! But of course...

That storyline's main purpose is to create a closeness between Sam and Belle and create a big big space between Vincent and Belle. In the preview for next week, Vincent proposed a separation. Huge drama coming.

I find tonight's episode overly too dramatic at some part and overly too repetetive or too brief in other parts. This series is making us the viewers assume many many things when it shouldn't be. I never ever ever seen Chris and Coco together and yet they were together tonight as an item. I dislike such assumption that we viewers know everything or will accept any plot thrown at our way.

Very weak storyline tonight though all performances were above average except for Kenneth Ma who gave a very amateurish performance.

Why all the Mas have so little charisma, screen presence and decent acting ability? That includes Steven Ma though he is a slightly more watcheable actor.

End credits someone explained about the windows on a plane.

Actually Chris and Coco's relationship wasn ot abrupt. You can already the see the bud of their relationship during Belle and Vincent's barbercue wedding party, where Chris and Coco seem very friendly and doing things together. Then during a stop at one European country (where Coco and Belle are doing stewardess duty), Coco left Belle alone to go to a concert with Chris. Coco has always been closer to Chris among the 4 S4 members.
