EPISODE 23

Tonight's episode is simply to waste time, the in between type of episode that is entertaining to watch but really empty at the end of the day.

The story of Sam, the customer relations assistant manager continues. We see an old woman (played by Lo Lan) who seems to be at the airport all the time, since she has the time to complain very very often. Her complaints are understandable but at the end of the day the way the customer relations dept dealt with her complaints were shall I say so out of this world; at least you won't see such tolerance and understanding people in Malaysia, don't know much about HK. I was thinking how come she's there at the airport all the time? It's like so far away from civilisation you know. And then of course we find out why. On a return flight to HK we see that old lady again, this time as a passenger complaining to Belle about the lack of fish (a meal) and Belle recommended the new dish, lotus rice. She eats one bite and woo hoo, there she goes again, no dried shrimps, lack the village style taste of Lotus rice. Belle of course has to bear with her and when Belle being ever so apologetic wants to move on to serving the next passenger, this old woman takes one look at her and said "What is you training huh? Where is you service with a smile?" and Belle answers "I am a bit tired..." and there the old lady goes again, blasting Belle to unknown stratosphere of complaints. Poor Belle.

Once the plane touched down, old woman goes to Sam and Sam being ever so patient and helpful really listened to her complaints and the old lady grew to like him for being really attentive (but everybody was as attentive as he was, so why him?). And Sam, a man of his words took her complaints about the lotus rice to his father, Phillip who in turn blasted Sam as he said "That rice has abalone, scallop, how can you spoil the taste with dried shrimps? Don't you let her teach me how to cook!". Poor Sam.

But then Sam sees Belle and Belle confessess that she learned a lot from that old lady and Sam too. Then Sam went dating with Zoe and Zoe reasoned with Sam with her usual optimistic logic (this time very much over the top-Myolie Wu's fault actually) and Sam looks deep into her eyes and said what was perhaps the best moment of this episode .."You're getting more and more attractive...". Ahhhh romantic. Then they bumped into the old lady and had a nice chat where the old lady said she had to take frequent flights to visit her beloved grandchildren because she was too old and the immigration won't allow her to migrate into a particular country. Very sad.

Then Sam and Zoe went home and saw Phillip experimenting with the shrimp on the lotus rice and lo and behold, the old lady was right! And of course Isaac teased Zoe endlessly about her being his sister in law and all. Quite a funny scene.

The episode then shifts to the story of Isaac and Zita. How Isaac fetched her home by bicycle and how Zita was saying she wanted to tell that something Tin that she is his long lost daughter and Isaac fell off the bicycle with Zita falling on top of him, they looked into each others eyes...well you know, somethintg much go on between the young ones who can't just fly plane and walk around in the entire episode. It was all so cliche. Anyway Zita wrote an email to that pilot father, something Tin (still can't quite catch his name) telling him she is his long lost daughter. and that Tin's unseen wife died 6 months before so now her mom and dad can reunite, Isaac found out and knew he had to tell her the truth. He did and he got one tight slap from Zita, witnessed by Roy and Chris who thought they had a lovers' quarrel. Donald didn't know anything of course. It took Zita some time and some good advice by the perpetually wise Zoe to forgive Isaac and they all became friends again.

Next day rumour had it that Tony was not going to be their instructor anymore. Of course, but who? Not Sam, the wasted talent being used in that god forsaken dept. So who else? I wonder....

Then Tin called Zita and that he was there to meet her and when he saw her he called her "My daughter" and then Zita turned around and saw her own mom and Zita was very embarrassed. Story was Zita's mom was dumped by her ungrateful father when her mom was pregnant and Tin took care of them, like a friend because Tin was her father's friend. Her father died long before. So in Tin Zita found a surrogate father. And it turns out Tin will be her new instructor!!!!!!! Wow! What suspense!!!

Anyway I suspect there will be some development between Zita's mom and that Tin.

Then we have the sub plot of Ruby having a one night stand with Paul after she got home drunk. And Zoe was waking up Paul in the morning and they were both kinda naked and Zoe said "If you don't wake up I am coming in" and end scene was Paul and Ruby shocked, didn't know what to do.

Plot wise, really empty tonight. I am still pisses that Sam had to do customer relations. What a plot is this? It's like Siu Sang (AR), a gun expert, a firearm expert, a ballistic expert being the inspector for what? What dept? I mean haven't HK got forensics? CSI? Really stupid storyline.

Then there's the one about Zita and Isaac. For one moment when Isaac asked Zita to let him fetch her home on his bicycle, Isaac looked like he was attracted to Zita who was obviously crazy about him and yet not quite. If yes, this would be a sudden development, sudden as in after he accidentally saw her torn t-shirt and her bare back he felt a sudden attraction to her because she was now not one of the guys but a girl. I will not accept this sudden turn and just as it appeared, 10 minutes later that sudden plot line was gone. Very weird.

Then there's Zoe, now the Aunt agony and nothing much. So I guess I will have to wait for Vincent to die to have any real drama. When? WHEN???

Finally that ridiculous scene of that old lady complaining to Belle about that lotus rice on the plane. Not ridiculous as it can never happen but ridiculous because Belle was there to serve ALL the passengers and whilst she stood there for 5 minutes or so listening to the old woman complaining about her lack of friendliness, I wonder why didn't that passenger in front of that old lady just stand up and say "Eh woman, I am hungry too you know? Can you please serve me first and then listen to what she has to say?". The training had one scene where Zita's mom explained that two trolleys musn't move faster than the other because you don't want the passenger to feel one passenger is being given special treatment as the trolley moves faster. YEAH so what was that with Belle standing there for the whole of I think 5 to 8 minutes and neglecting the other hungry passengers huh? Ridiculous.

And everybody is so friendly, like there isn't a bad hair day or waking up at the wrong side of the bed. Very white washed which I don't like. I want REAL drama, the dirt and all.

Finally performances...

Two actressess overacted to a different degree tonight; Michelle Ye which was scary and you must watch that scene where she was walking with Isaac and telling him about her email to Tin. Her whoosh one turn back to Isaac and whoosh one turn back to facing front with her perpetual big grin and big hair, all very very scary. Myolie Wu, smiled too much. She must tone down that over eagerness. I am beginning to find her Zoe a bit too manic you know. But I still like her.

Francis Ng made Sam more relaxed when he was with Zoe, which was great. Will there be a kissing scene between Zoe and Sam? Hmmmmm....I need something decent to wipe away the memory of that horrible kiss between Sam and Belle...

Ron Ng did badly tonight, especially when he is not around Francis Ng. I can see why there is some debate about this actor; he must learn from Francis where to put his hands and at some point I thought he forgot his script as he drawled on so slowly in some scenes.

Forgettable episode.

End credits we have some explanation about how you can pre-order your meal one day before flight, such as vegetarian, kiddie meal, low calorie, etc etc etc. Interesting.
